CS Foundation Course Overview

The Company Secretary (CS) Foundation Course is the entry-level program for aspiring Company Secretaries. Conducted by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), this course lays the groundwork for understanding corporate laws, business environments, and governance practices. It is designed to equip students with the fundamental knowledge required to excel in the profession of Company Secretaryship.

Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Qualification:
  • Must have passed Class 12 or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
  • Students who have passed Class 10 can register provisionally but must pass Class 12 before appearing for the exams.
• Age: No specific minimum age is required.

Registration Process

1. Online Registration:
   • Visit the ICAI official website and create an account.
2. Complete the Form:
   • Fill in personal, educational, and contact details.
3. Upload Documents:
   • Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets (if applicable).
   • Recent passport-sized photograph and signature.
4. Fee Payment:
   • Registration fee for the CA Foundation course is approximately ₹4,800 (inclusive of study material fees, subject to change).

Registration Deadlines

• The CS Foundation exam is conducted twice a year, in June and December. The registration deadlines are:

  • For June Attempt: Register by 30th September of the previous year.

  • For December Attempt: Register by 31st March of the same year.

Exam Structure

The CS Foundation exam follows a computer-based test format, consisting of multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Key details include:

• Duration: 1.5 hours per paper

• Total Papers: 4

• Total Marks: 100 per paper

• Passing Criteria: 40% marks in each subject and 50% overall

Exam Subjects

• The CS Foundation course comprises four papers:

  2. Business Management, Ethics, and Entrepreneurship

  4. Fundamentals of Accounting and Auditing
