  1. Nifty 50: 23,767.45, down 0.43%.
Sensex: 76,059.77, down 0.43%. Both indices declined for the fifth consecutive session.
  2. Weekly performance: Nifty lost 2.33%, while Sensex declined 2.70%, mainly due to banking weakness and rising crude-oil prices.
  3. Banking stocks under pressure: HDFC Bank fell 9.4% during the week, while Axis Bank declined 7.6% amid concerns over net-interest margins.
  4. Institutional activity: Foreign investors sold approximately ₹7,180 crore, while domestic institutions purchased around ₹8,640 crore during the week.
  5. Crude oil: Brent settled at $96.78 per barrel, down 3.88% on Friday after briefly crossing $100. However, it gained more than 10% during the week because of Middle East supply concerns.
  6. Indian rupee: The rupee closed near ₹96.56 per US dollar, close to its record low of ₹96.96. The RBI reportedly intervened to limit further depreciation.
  7. Gold and silver: International gold traded near $4,052.78 per ounce, while silver stood around $58.11 per ounce. Investors are awaiting the US Federal Reserve’s policy decision.
  8. Global markets: The Dow gained 0.46%, the S&P 500 remained nearly unchanged and the Nasdaq declined 0.64%. European STOXX 600 gained 0.8%.
  9. Companies in focus: L&T, HUL, Bharat Electronics, Coal India, Canara Bank, Tata Power, Sun Pharma, Adani Enterprises and Adani Ports are among the companies scheduled to announce quarterly results.
  10. Important Nifty levels: Market analysts identify 23,600–23,650 as an important support zone and 23,950–24,000 as resistance. The near-term sentiment remains cautious because of crude prices, foreign selling, the weak rupee and geopolitical uncertainty.
